Hiring Kitchen Coordinator!
Once a week throughout the academic year, the Concordia Food Coalition and the Multi-Faith & Spirituality Center offer a 2$ home-cooked vegan dinner to Concordia community members. This program is the campus’ only regular evening community dinner and food security initiative.
The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for developing a weekly menu, costing meals, picking up groceries, cooking weekly meals, and recruiting/coordinating volunteers. As the coordinator you will work mostly alone but receive guidance from staff members at both the MFSC and the Concordia Food Coalition.
This position is only open to students at Concordia University eligible under the workstudy program.

Job Title: Kitchen Coordinator

Salary Level: $ 13.00 /hr
Hours/week- 15
Required Skills:
– Experience working in kitchens
– Experience cooking vegan meals
– Must possess a dynamic and adaptive mindset towards meals preparation and planning
– Experience working with volunteers
– Experience cooking for large numbers of people (75+)
– Must be comfortable working autonomously
– Experience using social media as a promotional tool
– Familiarity using Google Drive
Other Skills: must be able to cook for large numbers; must be able to work independently and under pressure; must be able to work well with and supervise volunteers; must have excellent communication and organization skills, must be comfortable in an environment where faith, spirituality and religion are discussed.
Duties:
– Plan meals out for several weeks at a time;
– Make timely, cost-effective grocery purchases on Monday or Tuesday every week the program runs;
– Prepare (cook) and host a weekly vegan meal (every Thursday) for 80-100 students;
– Coordinate clean-up of space at the end of every Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard;
– Recruit and supervise volunteers;
– Maintain organization for counting diners and finances
– Create and maintain welcoming, non-judgemental atmosphere;
– Engage in proactive tasks such as publicity and other special projects, as required;
Must be available all day on Thursdays, as meal is served from 5 pm – 7 pm, and meal must be prepared beforehand.
Student Gains: be a part of a diverse and welcoming community; gain experience in working in a kitchen with volunteers; gain organizational, management and communication skills.
